Veronica Henry is a sublime writer, as a reader you don’t just read her books, for a few joyous hours she invites you to inhabit them. Her narrative excites every one of your senses. In The Impulse Purchase her mouthwatering descriptions of food tantalise your taste buds, her evocative descriptions of the different locations trick your imagination into feeling you too are sitting there watching events unfold. Her characters are always genuine and relatable, and this family in particular have a real bond.
But it is Veronica’s warm and magical storytelling that guarantees pure escapism and keeps us delighted every time we open one of her very special books and The Impulse Purchase is one of her best!
