Why we Liked it
Joyful is an absolutely fascinating book. It is packed with so much information but is also written in a very accessible style. In Ingrid’s research, she examined how mundane spaces and objects we interact with every day can have surprising and powerful effects on our mood. She asks why do Cherry blossoms and balloons, rainbows and sweeping natural landscapes and some colours, shapes, textures, patterns, seem to create universal joy?
The content centres around ten key qualities of joyful experiences and environments: energy, abundance, freedom, harmony, play, surprise, transcendence, magic, celebration and renewal.
We particularly liked her Joyful Toolkit with lots of practical examples showing how we can all learn to find joy and put it into practice in our public spaces and in our own homes.
After the last eighteen months, this book is a wonderful invitation to bring joy back into our lives.
